Welcome to InnoMed e.V.
Network for Neuromedical Engineering

Usefully combining regional potentials for sustainable economic growth

InnoMed, the Network for Neuromedical Engineering in the Magdeburg economic region, has emerged and developed from the 'environment' of the Magdeburg Otto-von-Guericke University, the Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology, and the Centre for Neuroscientific Innovation and Technology (ZENIT). The InnoMed Verein combines high-standard scientific competence this City and the region boast in neurosciences, with modern med-engineering developments contributed by partners from various industries. The Network assembles the interests, the resources and the expertise of its members and partners in collaboration, giving them an opportunity through bidirectional dealings to jointly make both speedy progress with new developments and an appearance at a high level.

Membership is increasing

The number of members - mainly small and medium-sized medical equipment companies and med-engineering businesses from the region, but also firms from a larger region as well as from the old Laender of Germany - has multiplied since the founding of the Verein in the year 2000 and now totals over 40. On a cumulative basis, the payroll of these firms currently totals some 450 staff, with an annual turnover in the area of €24 million and prime activities in the fields of neuromedical engineering, rehabilitation, neurotechnology pharmacology, as well as career advancement and skills upgrading. InnoMed Members typically develop virtual interactive 3D modules for imparting knowledge in neuromedical engineering, biofeedback and neurofeedback training systems, techniques and systems for the treatment of motor disorders and for computer-assisted vision training, neuropharmaceuticals designed to treat patients after stroke, and nano-carriers for medicines.

Innovation and know-how transfer safeguard employement

It is InnoMed's key objective to develop the Magdeburg region to become a centre for innovation in the sphere of neuromedical engineering, thus preserving and creating sustainable jobs. To this end, while transfer of expertise needs to be intensified, generating joint projects in R&D as well as skills upgrading and career advancement is of prime relevance. InnoMed, representing its members' interests to federal and regional authorities, desires to further develop and expand the Network through offering attractive projects.
